Yoga Under the Stars – April 2018

Picture this – Yoga, with your friends, while drinking a beer at a brewery, listening to a bomb playlist at night…This is not just a list of all of your favorite things – it is an event that happens every month at Orlando Brewing.

Orlando Brewing has the best set up with indoor and outdoor seating options. There is plenty of space for everyone and they have quite an extensive beer list so you are sure to find something you will like. The outdoor area has a tent to protect you from the brutal sun that is coming our way and at night the hanging lights twinkled and it made for a nice vibe.

Yoga Under the Stars is taught by Sarah Burnett (@acrosarah on Instagram). She gives off a super laid back vibe and sets the scene for relaxation and fun. Don’t worry if you are a newbie to yoga – she made it all very easy to understand. There are multiple yogis showing the poses as Sarah calls them out on picnic tables so you can see them no matter where you are set up . One of them even showed the modifications for the challenging moves. The event was so packed that you could also look left or right for an example of what to do next.

If you have ever tried yoga where they want you to imagine the “seasons are changing as you breathe in” or “want you to find the mountain within you” then you will be surprised to know not all yoga is like that. This was laid back with awesome tunes going the entire time. (Seriously, I need the playlist!) While it was relaxing and reminded me to be filled with gratitude and find a peaceful state of mind, it was not too out there which made for a much more comfortable environment for a beginner like me and a lot less laughs (sorry past yoga teachers – I just may not be zen enough yet). Don’t get it twisted though. You could tell there were some experienced yogis there and they did their thing -wow!

In addition to the yoga, there were some awesome vendors there who had great things to share. Let’s start off with Cooking with a C. Cera had some delicious bites to share pre-yoga which were plant based and amazing! She is a plant based chef in the Orlando area who loves to show how delicious wellness can be!

Her Caramel Apple Peanut Butter Bites were my favorite.

I also met Mia Anderson who had a beautiful jewelry line but this is no ordinary jewelry. All of the proceeds go towards ME/CFS research. I had never heard of this but it stands for Myalgic/Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome which is a debilitating disease that causes dysfunction of the neurological, immune, endocrine and energy metabolism systems. There is no cure and no treatment for this but Mia is trying an experimental drug that her doctor has been researching. Her proceeds go directly to his research. This is jewelry that it stunning and has a much great purpose.

You can learn more about ME/CFS here and check out Mia’s shop here.

If you are in need of a cleanse – let’s face it who isn’t – and you have the courage to try one, check out My Revive Tribe. There were sampling their cleanse recipes and sharing some great information about their natural cleanse options.

If henna is your thing, Green Leaf Henna was there. Keeping with the natural, plant based theme this henna is homemade. The dye is plant based and their designs were stunning.

Need to loosen up after your yoga practice or just after a long day? HEAL. did adjustments during the yoga session and were also offering chair massage after the session.

Don’t fret – if you need a bite – Dog Haus sets up outside of the brewery and has hot dogs that pair perfectly with the beers (quite the sophisticated palate I know). Not only are the hot dogs delicious but the owner is hilarious and shares great words of wisdom like “Drive Fast and Take Risks” which clearly is a great mantra to live by.

The yoga instructor, Sarah, had these awesome tanks for sale. I mean how perfect are these?

This event definitely fills up so make sure to get your tickets early to secure your spot. They host Yoga Under the Stars every third Friday of the month.

It is a great place to make friends too! Sarah incorporates a lot of high fives and a light mood which makes it a great environment to meet new people. You may also come across yoga mats that speak to your soul.

If you are looking for a feel well, stretch well, drink well activity to do on a Friday night – be sure to check out the next Yoga Under the Stars.

Orlando Brewing is constantly hosting fun events. You can stay up to date with the latest happenings here.

Until next time. Namaste.
