Listen to me – you have to check out Listen to you Heart. Hear me out, even if you are not a Bachelor fan, this show appeals to the masses! It is the Bachelor with an Idol/The Voice vibe. Basically, the contestants are looking for love (a la Bachelor) but are also in a singing competition. The rules and way of the show are still being shown piece by piece but it seems to have a Bachelor in Paradise vibe where you need to be paired up to stay each week and girls/guys take turns having the rose giving power.

The season started with Chris Harrison on the famous driveway in front of a mansion which was oddly comforting during this weird time in the world (Pandemic 2020). He welcomed each contestant and a few are worth mentioning (some were not even shown getting out of the limo – weird!)
We had Matt come out of the limo and besides his pretty boy looks – he also acted as though he did not know who Chris Harrison was and it was oddly narcissistic. This perception was spot on because later her turns out to be a total jerk. Rudi seemed super excited to be there and she definitely knew what was going on. Julia gave me total beauty queen vibes and seemed more mature than the other contestants (she will be a front runner!). Savannah came out and seemed like trouble as soon as she walked in (but I totally may have judged a book by its cover with her – not sure yet). Trevor was given an intro video which showed him shirtless with his dog and shared that he was previously on American Idol (Katy Perry called him hot so there is that). Basically, he has experience in reality TV which is usually promising when it comes to him getting camera time. We also met Jamie, who was the last one out of the limo, and I am calling it now – she will be the star of the show. I am not sure if this is a good thing or a train wreck but she was giving off total Madison vibes. She knows how to work the camera, she is 21 and she is already in a love triangle.

As the contestants enter the house, connections begin off the bat. There was minimal “stealing away” and a lot of, what seemed to be, authentic conversations. Jamie and Ryan were the first two in the house and they had an instant connection. I sense “nice guy” vibes from Ryan which will end up hurting him later on. She soon meets Trevor and we all see the shift in her interest. We quickly see Sheridan gravitate towards Julia. Matt and Rudi seem to connect although she would not kiss him when he went for it. Michael Todd came in trying way too hard to be memorable and ended up leaving because of it. This is the guy who got within a few inches of Savannah’s face and continued to say how nice her lips was. It was not romantic, instead it was borderline creepy. Sorry Michael Todd!

The first date card arrives and it goes to Ryan. He obviously takes Jamie (and the producers rejoiced). They went to Capital Records and got to record a rendition of John Mayer’s Gravity. They honestly sound beautiful together which means of course they have to end the date with a kiss. There are no roses on these dates. The next date card goes to Matt (the one who didn’t know who Chris C. was). He seemed to promise the date to Rudi but ended up taking Mel which made Rudi real mad. The date was awkward and got barely any air time – zero connection there. Rudi then spends time singing her own original song like a boss (get that air time girl!). You can listen to her song here. She later lets Matt have it, calls him out and becomes America’s favorite. Before the rose ceremony, Trevor pulls Jamie to the side and says “he doesn’t expect her to pick him and just wants to enjoy their last minutes together” and then asks to play her a song… basically he was making sure he got air time singing JUST in case he got sent home.
The ladies had the power with the roses this week meaning they got to save the guys of their choice. Four guys went home. Here is who stayed:
Savannah gives a rose to Brandon, Mel chooses Gabe, Bekah chooses Danny (we barely got to see them the entire episode), Bri saves Chris, Cheyenne picks Matt (this seemed to be an alliance move on her part so Matt will owe her a favor now), Julia chooses Sheridan, Jamie saves Trevor (shocker she chose the one with bad boy vibes) and Rudi saves Ryan (woohoo!).
Stay tuned because next week, NEW contestants are entering the house so that should be interesting.
