Have you ever heard that anything tastes good if you wrap it in bacon? Well asparagus is no exception!
This recipe is super simple and will WOW your people. We make it on the regular at home and it does not get old. Try this out for a party as it is easy to eat with your hands! Put it on the side of a steak for a date night at home. Serve it to your picky kids who do not like anything green on their plate. This is a good one friends!
You will need:
- 1 bunch of asparagus (you can use as little or as much as you want)
- A package of sliced bacon
- Olive oil
- Johnny’s Garlic Spread Seasoning (you can use any seasoning of choice)
Time to Cook
First, preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Once your ingredients are ready, it is time to wrap your asparagus. I have had luck bunching three and four stems together. One would be too small but you can probably do more than four if you want a larger asparagus to bacon ratio.
Because the bacon is sticky, it should stay in place after you roll it but place the seam side down just to keep it tight and secure. Keep the top part of the asparagus sticking out so it can take the flavor you are going to add to it and crisp up.
Place your wrapped asparagus on a cookie sheet. It is okay if they are close together. The bacon fast and olive oil keep them from sticking together.
Now drizzle olive oil on the tips and ends of your asparagus. This helps the seasoning to sick on and adds a healthy fat to your asparagus. It also keeps them moist so they do not dry out during cook time.
Finally, add your seasoning of choice. I love this garlic spread seasoning because it adds Parmesan and garlic powder to the asparagus. I highly recommend grabbing this seasoning the next time you are at Costco. It goes well with EVERYTHING!
Now you are ready to put it in the oven. Bake your asparagus for 20 minutes. Before you take it out, make sure the bacon is cooked to your liking. If you like your bacon crispy, you can leave it in for an extra few minutes or broil for a minute or two.
Serve it with your dinner and makes your guest’s mouths water. It really is that good and makes for a definite crowd pleaser. Serve while hot. Reheating does make it lose its texture a bit so I suggest eating it right out of the oven.
